Dr. Mir Faisal is Consultant and Head of Department of Pulmonology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Khyber Medical Institute in Srinagar. After completing his schooling from Burn Hall School (Srinagar) he received his medical degree from SKIMS Medical College (Srinagar). He did his residency in Department of General Medicine, SK institute of Medical Sciences Soura followed by DNB in Pulmonary Medicine from National institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD) New Delhi. He qualified DNB from the prestigious PGI Chandigarh. Dr Faisal was awarded the Membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences for his academic excellence.

Always striving for excellence in the field of pulmonology Dr. Faisal completed his training in Advanced Bronchoscopy, Endobrochial Ultrasound (EBUS), Pleuroscopy at Amsterdam and Fellowship in critical care from Society of Critical Care Medicine Calfornia. With a keen interest in treatment of tuberculosis, Dr. Faisal has been associated with International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung diseases (IUATLD) from where he completed his course on MDR TB.

Dr. Faisal has been associated with many prestigious hospitals in India. He has given his services in leading hospitals like SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura Srinagar, Metro Group of Hospitals New Delhi, BLK Super Speciality Hospital New Delhi. Dr. Faisal joined Khyber Medical Institute Srinagar in May 2014 as Head Pulmonary, Critical care and Sleep Medicine. Khyber medical institute is the premier medical institute of the Kashmir valley with the repute of being the first private multispecialty hospital in whole of Jammu and Kashmir. Department offers complete consultative and procedural services to patients with respiratory problems. There is state of art facility for all Interventional pulmonology procedures like Fibre optic bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, and polysomnagraphy with a dedicated ICU for management of critically ill patients.

Dr. Faisal is a recognized authority in interventional pulmonology. His expertise includes flexible bronchoscopy, laser resection, stent insertion, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and medical thoracoscopy. His experience in critical care makes him one of the pioneers in critical care medicine in the valley.

Dr. Faisal is member of numerous professional organisations including National College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Indian Association of Bronchoscopy, and World Association of Bronchoscopy. He is an invited faculty of many national and international conferences. He participated in First International Conference of South East Asia Region & 63rd National Conference of Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases (8-10 Sept 2008). He also attended AIIMS PULMOCRIT 2014 and 2012, and 24th annual update on pulmonary & critical care medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Oct 2009). Dr. Faisal is involved in conducting and participating in various workshops like Satellite workshop on management of MDR/XDR-TB (LRS Institute of TB & Respiratory Diseases: Sep 2008), Antiretroviral Therapy Training (LRS Institute of TB & Respiratory Diseases Feb 2009) and Training for General Practitioners in Psychiatry (G B Pant Hospital Aug 2007). He was invited to deliver a guest lecture at IIPMA Srinagar on ‘Drug Addiction In Kashmir, Prevention And Rehabilitation’

Dr. Faisal has always been a philanthropist, he has been associated with many welfare organisations. He is founding member of Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation (JKYF) whose sister concern Doctors Offering Care (DOC) works for welfare of poor and needy patients. Dr Faisal has the repute of working with MSF Holland, COVA (Collaboration of voluntary organizations) and International committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) during various relief and rehabilitation works. Dr Faisal is a devout Muslim and has always advocated freedom of expression and repealed oppression of all sorts.
